COASTMAN is an international training project for integrated coastal zones management, led by Federal Republic of Germany and its federate state Bremen. COASTMAN contributes to sustainable use of coastal regions in countries members in South America, Asia Pacific and South Africa. The participants in the project improve their management skills and expertise trough training and international networking interchange.

The realization of ICZM politics and strategies has progressed differently in coastal countries worldwide. Many responsible employees come from technological and scientific professions, and prefer technocratic solutions.
