COMPOSITION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly is the highest authority of the Institute. Currently 12 members make up the General Assembly, who are representatives from governmental agencies, academia, regional autonomous corporations and research institutes.

INTEGRATION OF THE BOARD

The functions of the board are to ensure compliance with all the policies and plans of the Institute, to monitor and evaluate ongoing programs of the Institute and agreements with other entities, to establish and regulate comprehensive evaluation systems to monitor management, and to choose the members of the Scientific Council among other functions.

  f. Autonomous Regional Corporation of Valley of the Sinú and San Jorge (CVS). Who is representative of the Coastal Caribbean Corporations.

  g. University of Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano which is a Representative of private Universities.

  h. National University, which is the Institute that represents public Universities.

  i. University of Antioquia, which is the Institute that represents public Universities as well.

   

Functions of the Director

• a. Excercise the legal representation of the Institute and direct its activities, according to the guidelines of the General Assembly, the Board and taking into account the recomendations of the Scientific Council and the laws hereof.

   

  b. Submit to the Board for consideration; plans, programs and projects that are required to futfill the purpose of the Institute.

  c. Direct, coordinate, control and plan the Institute's activities; and implement end enforce the Bylaws and the decisions of the General Assembly and the Board.

  d. Convene the General Assembly and the Board to the ordinary and extraordinary meetings, when they exist.

  e. Select and the link the Institute's staff, present to the Board the salary scale and contract signings, monitor their performance as well as rescinding or terminating contracts when necessary and generally deciding on the issues related to staff.

  f. Planning and directing the financial management of the Institute. - Developing activities for obtaining financial resources. In addition the director will sort expenses, issues acts, perform operations and conclude contracts and agreements necessary for the normal functioning of the Institute as establishes by the Board in accordance with Article 31st

  g. Hiring, when necessary, the service of independent professionals, individuals and legal entities to further assist the Institute.

  h. Tosubmit to the Board the organizational structure and manual functions of the various departments in the Institute.

  i. Submit to the Board reports of the activities of the Institute and submit to the general Assembly an annual report on the activities undertaken during the respective period.

  j. Submit to the general Assembly and the Board, the financial statements of the Institute.

  k. Present the annual budget of income and expenditures of the Institute to the Board for approval.

  l. Take care, monitor and manage the assets of the Institute.

  m. Be agents or proxies representing the Institute in special, legal, judicial and administrative matters.

  n. Delegate the development of activities to other employees of the Institute.

  o. The other functions are indicated in the General Assembly, the Board, Law, and its regulations particularly in Article 19t. Decree 1276 of 1994 and the present Statute.
